- 5. Abel’s Lance (Final Fantasy IV)
Abel’s Lance is a weapon in Final Fantasy IV Advance. It is a spear and thus can only be equipped by Kain Highwind. It is obtained in the Lunar Ruins after completing Kain’s Trial. This spear is the strongest in the game and has a chance of casting the Tornado spell when attacking an enemy, which will decrease the enemy’s HP to a critical level. Abel’s Lance also allows Kain to Double Jump. This skill is the same as the Jump command but deals double the damage and takes 1/4 of the time to execute.
It should be noted that this Lance’s random Tornado casting bypasses all immunities, allowing it to knock the HP of not only tough enemies, but also bosses into single digits within a single turn. As a result, this random spellcasting happens more rarely than the Lightbringer’s random Holy spell.
- 4. Zodiac Spear (Final Fantasy XII)
The Zodiac Spear is the most powerful weapon available in Final Fantasy XII. Its license is found in the bottom right corner in the License Board, just under Tournesol. While being the strongest weapon available, the spear can be found early in the game, though to obtain it, there are certain chests that are not to be opened. It costs 235 License points, and has an attack power up to 150. Like most spears, Zodiac Spear grants the user +8 to evasion.
The Zanmato is a recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy series. It is usually associated with Samurai, and may inflict one-hit KO’s.
Cyan can equip the Zanmato in Final Fantasy VI. It appears as the strongest katana available, and yields an attack power of 245. It can be found in the Dragon’s Den or obtained by betting Godhand in the Dragon’s Neck Colloseum. It has a slight chance of inflicting instant death on its target, even if that target is undead.
The Masamune is a weapon that appears in various titles of the Final Fantasy series. It is usually one of the most powerful katanas or swords of the game in which it appears. The Masamune is named after Masamune Okazaki, the legendary Japanese blacksmith, considered the greatest in history. It is often compared to the Muramasa, though always the better of the two. According to legend, Masamunes are marks of an internal peaceful and calm warrior, the exact opposite of Muramasas.
The Ultima Weapon, also known as Atma Weapon, is a sword that appears in many Final Fantasy games. It is usually one of the strongest swords in their respective games. The damage dealt by the weapon is related to the HP of the equipped character. Usually it is the main character’s ultimate weapon. The Ultima Weapon often shines a blue light, showing its mystical power. In Dirge of Cerberus the weapon is portrayed as a gun.

Where is Excalibur?
And why don’t you mention the beautiful Lion Heart?

From memory, the most powerful weapon in any ff is the caladbolg in FFX – especially as the characters in that game are simply rigged if you statmax. It deals 99,999 damage multiple times over with blitz ace (it’s Tidus’ ultimate weapon for any who doesn’t know).

Wakka’s attack reels can inflict more damage than Tidus’s blitz ace in X. That doesn’t really reflect the weapon equipped though, as long as it has break damage limit.
I think the blood sword(s) from Final Fantasy II are worth a mention, as those things absolutely rip through any bosses. Fists (FFI, FF5) could also be extremely dominant.
