Jenova to return in Final Fantasy XIII?
-
With Final Fantasy XIII news becoming a little dry it gives Final Fantasy fans more time to focus more on the following image from XIII. Below is an image of an “unidentified being” released by Square Enix to play a part in the upcoming game Final Fantasy XIII. Unlike the “Prince” from Versus and “Lightning” from XIII, this image has so far given everyone nothing but grief in uncovering its purpose or identity. Many fans however have their suspicions of Kitase’s and Nomura’s mysterious being.

Jenova?Final Fantasy XIII is being dubbed the Final Fantasy VII of the 21st Century. Kitase wants XIII to have the same impact VII had on fans hearts. Such so, character designer Tetsuya Nomura was asked to create a “female version of Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII”. Could Nomura have been asked to create Jenova from VII to appear in XIII as well?
The image above (XIII) compared to the image below (Jenova from VII) bares a similar resemblance with slight design differences.

Jenova from VIISo far some Final Fantasy fans rubbish the claims saying its “too big” a link between VII and XIII. And in their own words; “that’s if its not a super secret remake of Final Fantasy VII”, which is even more outrageous. Isn’t it?..
Most fans however have a more liberal approach claiming they wouldn’t be surprised if it was similar to Jenova from VII, maybe even being the same species of extraterrestrial life that crashed landed and brought havoc to VII’s world.
But is it really “too big” a link?
Previously Final Fantasy titles have always had a history of leaving referances to characters and stories from the past titles ie. X-2 heavily hints that shinra is shinra of shinra corpartion from VII.
In fact, a few Final Fantasy fans believe that all the Final Fantasy’s are set on the same planet, just at very different times and places.
Whether this being is Jenova (from VII) or one of a similar species is questionable, but its certainly not worth throwing in the bin considering Final Fantasy’s referencing history.
I’ll let you decide between yourselves whether this is really Jenova.

OMG! Are people really that stupid?

Perhaps not Jenova but a similar lifeform as stated.
As long as its a cool enemy, I’m for it.. though hopefully its not the main antagonist… thats where Jenova worked so well in FF7… it was this creature which always seem to be thwarting your plans throughout moments in the game… a nice reoccurring boss.

Stop messing about and get FF7 Remade, with crisis core on psp some people are going wonder what the references are about in the game.

thats ridiculous, they arent on the same planet. think about it. the land is always different in the games with world map and you’d think they’d cross over more in ways of the general equipment system. they should bring back the old summons, gfs, aeons, eidolons etc. they were much more recognisable. oh, yeah, and it cant be jenova. dont you fight that just before sephiroth in 7? =)

Actually… the green stripes do look like the life stream from FFVII.
Gunblades were already seen in FFXIII and they are from FFVIII so maybe a connection to other FF titles does exist (although very unlikely judging by the series’ nature).
Anyway, the things I’m interested in regarding FFXIII are the release date and more footage, connection to other titles is not at the top of my priorities.

maybe FFXIII is a prequel to FFVII ??????????

I’m… not seeing how a green torso-shaped thundercloud with a gasmask and an armless blue woman are similar.
If anything, the creature resembles the Cloud of Darkness from FFIII. Only, green. With a gasmask.

wait a minute time out this cant be jenova. it could if the producers of the game wanted to spin that this is one of the many planets jenova tried to destroy but the creators are not knwn for putting that much connection to their games. #2 it is purely impossible to have mulitple connections between games. they have too many already! first the fact the main character uses a gunblade and that this is another saga of the crystal. this is a new series that are going back to their roots… Plus if this is jenova it would create a large amount of controversy because if she is in this game it could rumor that the true remake of FFVII is not going to happen.

I agree with on other review Stop messing around nad get FFVII remade for the PS3 also dont you think “the prince” from XIII Vesus looks an un canny cross between cloud and sepiroth greyish- back spkiey hair? sword weilding hero?

Does anyone else find the two games suspiciously similar? I mean isn’t XIII based in a world with a plate above them? A lot like Midgar no? And obviously Lightning is like Cloud, and I guess that thing looks somewhat like Jenova. I’m not saying it is a remake, but I find it weird mostly about the whole thing with a land below a plate in the sky.

could be likely – strange things going down in square Enix atm.

p.s. jenova scares me.

Square knows what they’re doing, they purposely released this picture the get people thinking Jenova is in FF13, which would be the most logical connection to make since FF7 is the most popular and there is nothing known about Jenova’s origin. Therefore a game about Jenova’s origin would cause huge controversy and make a killing in sales. I wouldn’t be surprised if we learn half-way though the game that the “female cloud-like” main character is in fact Jenova. I know anyone reading this is already saying this is bs in there heads but take time to think, its already known that lightning isn’t her real name and if you look in some of the pictures of her, her hair almost seems to look pink just like Jenova. Hey I may be right I might be completely wrong but this would be something square should have done.
